Dental restorations come in many forms, and three of the most common are crowns, bridges, and veneers. While they may sound similar, they serve very different purposes. Here’s a simple guide to help you understand each option and when it’s used.

Dental Crowns

Crowns, sometimes called caps, completely cover a damaged or weakened tooth. They restore shape, strength, and function, and can be made from porcelain, metal, or ceramic.

Dental Bridges

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the teeth on either side of the gap. It literally ‘bridges’ the space and is usually made from porcelain or ceramic for a natural look.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are thin shells placed on the front surface of teeth to improve appearance. They’re often used for cosmetic changes like covering stains, chips, or gaps.

Which Option is Right for You?

Each treatment has a specific purpose. Crowns and bridges restore function, while veneers enhance aesthetics. Your dentist can recommend the best choice based on your needs.
